Description

Here’s a cool program that would be of interest to people who study the history of the West’s Great Basin, which is located mostly in Nevada. The 1984 exhibit featured mostly 19th century photographs of the Basin and environs: Virginia City; Lake Tahoe; and Utah. These photos were taken by well known artists of the day, including Carleton Watkins, and Timothy H. O’Sullivan.
The cover, front and back, features enlarged images of a well known photograph taken at Lake Tahoe’s Spooner Summit, which depicts the lumber and fluming operation, which supported the Comstock Lode.
